de Vilhena
De Vilhena is a renovated hotel situated in Old Theatre Street, Valletta. The building is named after the popular Portuguese grandmaster António Manoel de Vilhena.
The grandmaster’s coat of arms depicts a prominent lion that can be seen in many buildings and fortifications around Malta. To put this symbol into a modern context we have simplified the lion into a stencil form.
The identity was then translated onto the hotel’s interior signage and printed matter.
